Prof R. C. Shah Memorial Lecture Award

With a donation from Dr. J. J. Trivedi, Managing Trustee, Prof. V. M. Thakor, Education and Research Trust, Ahmedabad, The Indian Science Congress Association has introduced this annual lecture in the Section of Chemistry in 1995-96, to be given annually for notable research The award carries a cash amount of Rs.5,000/- and a plaque. The recipient has to deliver a lecture on the topic of his/her specialisation in the Section of Chemistry during the Science Congress. The awardee is entitled to TA/DA (within the country) as per ISCA rules for attending the respective Session of the Science Congress in which he/she will receive the award.

Eligibility

Age of the candidate should not exceed 45 years on December 31 preceding year of the award.

The candidate must have published outstanding research papers in any branch of Soil/Physical Chemistry either independently or as a research guide and the research work must have been carried out in India. The award will be made on the basis of the work done during the last five years.

Nominations for the award are invited from Members of ISCA Council and Heads of Universities/IITs, Research Institutes as well as from Learned Societies.

Nominations thus received will be sent to three experts (one of whom will be the President, Section of Chemistry of the year, and the other two will be nominated by the General President) for opinion.

The final selection will be made by a Selection Committee consisting of General President, General Secretary (Scientific Activities), Treasurer and General Secretary (Membership Affairs).

In case the donor intends to have his/her representative in the Selection Committee, the Committee will also include such a representative provided the donor agrees to meet the cost of participation of his/her representative in the Selection Committee.

The last date for receiving applications (in prescribed proforma) is July 31 each year.
